Set within the grounds of Purbeck Shooting Club, Purbeck Field Target Club (formerly South Dorset Field Target Club) aims to provide a safe, controlled and peaceful environment in which to enjoy the sport of target airgun shooting.

We offer a friendly atmosphere where members and guests can exchange knowledge and advice on all aspects of the sport.

Still under development, our club facilities to date include:

An all-weather zeroing/practice range hut with 10 covered firing points. Totalling in excess of 100, the range is equipped with metal knock up/down targets and spinners, along with A4 paper target holders out to a maximum distance of 55 yards. Perfect for all levels of experience.

A new, 2022, dedicated 25 yard Bench Rest range hut with 4 covered firing points. It has been designed and built to reduce the effects of the swirling winds that challenge your every shot.

The close by Portakabin club house is the ideal place to take a break, make a drink and chat with other members about the finer points of that day’s challenging wind.

As a club born from the sport of Field Target shooting, we still actively promote and encourage both the discipline of Field Target and Hunter Field Target, from introductory through to competition level.

In a wooded area of the grounds, we have both a 40 target FT and 40 target HFT course set out to challenge shooters of all skill levels.

Our future plans include a covered range hut for 10 metre pistol.

Being situated in the grounds of Purbeck Shooting School, we benefit from gated access, flat level roadways and parking, a café operating Tuesday to Saturday and a toilet block with facilities for the disabled.

With amembership just £60 per annum and no other range fees, we offer unrivalled value to shooters of any level.

PFTC very much welcome enquires from individuals and families that would like to try their hand at air rifle target shooting and have a number of club guns available for you to use when you visit. Minimum age 9 years.
